About The Rye Youth Council
The
mission of the Rye Youth Council
is “to address
identified needs of school-aged youth who live or
attend school in Rye
by working collaboratively to sponsor school and
community-based
programs designed to foster the healthy physical,
social and emotional
development of our young people.”
The Rye Youth Council serves thousands
of students in Rye public schools and private
schools, including
Resurrection and Rye Country Day Schools.
Established in 1963 by
the mayor of Rye, the RYC was originally formed to
combat shoplifting by Rye kids. It has
evolved over the years into a vital community
resource, providing programs and activities to
hundreds of young people, their families and the
Rye community.
