RYC is a proud supporter of the DARE Program (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) with Detective John Wood
The Drug Abuse Resistance Education program (D.A.R.E.) is a nationally recognized program designed to give kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence. It is conducted by Rye Police Detective, John Wood, and is given to every fifth grade student over 12 weeks in the Rye City School District. D.A.R.E. officers are trained as "coaches" to teach kids research-based refusal strategies in high-stakes peer-pressure environments. Mock courtroom exercises are designed to show the legal consequences of drugs and violence.
For more information on D.A.R.E. you may contact John Wood at 914-967-1234 or email him at jwood@ryedp.ryeny.gov
