The Rye Youth Council - Fostering Healthy Development in our Youth

High school life skills

Casey DeCola is the High School Youth Advocate and provides services at Rye High School and Rye Country Day School.

The high school programs consist of mostly of clubs which seek to expose high school students to the larger world outside of Rye through a variety of community service and outreach type activities. These include Adopt-A-Grandfriend, where students are paired with elderly residents in a Mount Vernon nursing home, Student Awareness Club, where students pick a cause to fundraise for each month, and Teaching for Change, a tutoring program, which encourages high school students to teach English to day laborers in Port Chester. Casey also offers services such as life skills classes, health related assemblies and workshops, and counseling referrals; and she works with the school and guidance staff on policy issues and concerns within the school community.
